After last years event, with a low turnout and even lower snowfall, Mamafest 2006 was back with a vengeance. The event took place at The Summit at Snoqualmie with plenty of snow and sunshine. People of all ages came out to show their support, enjoy a great day on the mountain, and learn more about breast cancer.

This years Mamafest featured live music, a ski and snowboard competition, beer garden, snowboard demos, a mechanical bull, the coveted “I heart boobs” stickers, and of course, plenty of information on breast cancer. Bands the Hollowpoints, Mon Frere, and Speaker Speaker all braved cold fingers to entertain the crowds slope- side, while local riders and skiers showed up to compete on the mountain.

Volunteers sporting pink bandanas sold raffle tickets throughout the day. With $15,000 in prizes, many supporters walked away witha ton of new gear such as boots, backpacks, jackets, skis and snowboards. Thanks to all the sponsors and raffle prize donators: Sonic Boom, Rays Boat House, Elliots, Kavu, Forum, K2, Ride, Burton, Solomom, Smith, Car Toys, Spacecraft, Evo, Snowboard Connection, Rossignol, Zumiez, One Mountain, Nitro, Girl Powder, Publishing Arts, The End, Athena, Girl Powder, Triamp Group, and Bumpershoot.

Through the sale of raffle tickets and donations made for the pledge drive, we raised almost 20k for the UW Medical Genetics Clinic. Overall, the day was a huge success and tons of fun. Thank you to all the sponsors and everyone that showed up or volunteered.
